Avinor provides air traffic control services in Norwegian airspace, and in large parts of the North Atlantic. The service is provided by approximately 350 employees at Avinor's Air Traffic Control Centre located in Stavanger, Røyken and Bodø.
Our main customers are Norwegian and international airlines, the military and the airports for which we provide approach control.
Safe and stable service – at a good price
Avinor is committed to delivering a safe and efficient service to our customers, at the best possible price. The service Avinor supplies is very competitive with our neighbouring countries.Simply stated, the unit rate, which is used to calculate the charges that airlines pay, is a result of the cost level for the en-route service divided by the number of flights. Norway has seen a significant growth in en-route traffic over the recent years, with no corresponding increase in costs. This keeps prices, which are regulated by the EU, at a low level.
The map provides an overview of the unit rates for 2024 for flying in the airspace of Norway (€47.24), Sweden (€74.55), Finland (€57.13), Denmark (€67.145), the United Kingdom (€87.29), Ireland (€28.78), the Netherlands (€95.15), Germany (€80.14), Poland (€54.38), Lithuania (€63.06), Latvia (€44.42), and Belgium-Luxembourg (€112.08) (Image: Eurocontrol).
Significant international cooperation
Cross-border cooperation is important in order to provide the best possible service to the airlines. Avinor works closely with several air navigation service providers, and is part of the NEFAB cooperation that has established a common airspace block for Norway, Finland, Estonia and Latvia.
